The BJP on Sunday rejected former chief minister Babulal Marandi’s appeal not to disrupt his Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (Prajatantric’s) Jharkhand shutdown on October 10.

“The BJP is a national party, and how can an individual appeal to it...thousands of BJP workers will reach Ranchi on October 10 to participate in the gherao of Raj Bhavan on October 11,” BJP state unit president Raghuvar Das told a press conference here.

Mr. Das was replying to a query on Mr. Marandi’s appeal through a press conference on Saturday urging all political parties to avoid any type of disruption on October 10.

The JVM-P has called for a bandh against what Mr. Marandi had alleged ‘ignoring’ of its charter of demands by the state government.

Mr. Marandi had resigned from the BJP over three years ago and floated JVM-P.

“Our BJP workers from across the state will come on October 10 and stay at different places in Ranchi,” Mr. Das reiterated.

The BJP was resorting to `gherao Raj Bhavan’ on October 11 against the alleged inaction by the Governor on its 20-point charter of demands, including dissolution of assembly.
