Former Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MP Brijesh Pathak joined the BJP on Monday, a day after he shared the stage with BSP chief Mayawati in Agra.

Mr. Pathak, a former Lok Sabha member from Unnao, represented the BSP in the Rajya Sabha till his term ended last November. He has reportedly been finding the going tough in the party, especially after his brother-in-law and former BSP MLC Arvind Tripathi was expelled in June.

Mr. Pathak joined the BJP in the presence of party president Amit Shah and Union Minister for Tourism Mahesh Sharma. Asked about his presence at the Agra rally, he replied: “Hum jab tak jahan rehtey hain, poori nishta se rehtey hain (Wherever I am, I stick around with full conviction)”.
