At least eight persons, four of them children, were buried alive and three injured when a portion of a five-storey residential building near here crashed on Tuesday evening, police and health officials said.
Part of the building ‘Sheshmahal,' located at Ulhasnagar on Mumbai's outskirts, collapsed around 5.30 p.m., they said.

A relief and rescue operation was immediately launched at the crash site by fire brigade and police personnel.
The building was constructed in 1996 and some repair work was on when the slab crashed. Those who lost their lives were residing on the third and fourth floors, police said.
