616 Gentlemen Cadets pass out from Indian Military Academy

With 616 Gentlemen Cadets (GCs) crossing the portals of the Chetwode building on Saturday, the number of officers who have passed out of the IMA since its inception in 1932 reached 56,041.

Of the GCs who passed out on Saturday, 100 were from Uttar Pradesh, 64 from Haryana, and 60 from Uttarakhand.

So far, a total of 1,813 Foreign Gentlemen Cadets (FGCs) have passed out from the IMA, of whom 71 FGCs participated in Saturday’s passing out parade.

Chief of Naval Staff Admiral R.K. Dhowan, who was the Reviewing Officer for the parade, said he was honoured to have been invited to the passing out parade of the 136th Regular Course at the IMA.

Admiral Dhowan mentioned “commitment, courage, compassion, credibility and integrity” as most important for all Army officers. He said the officers must be “mentally alert and physically strong” for carrying out their duties successfully.

The Sword of Honour was awarded to Ishan Shinghal for best all round performance among all GCs of passing out course.

Ajay Kumar Pathak was awarded the Gold Medal, Ashish Kapoor was awarded the Silver Medal and Naveen Janu was awarded the Bronze Medal for standing first, second and third, respectively, in the Regular Course.

The Silver Medal for standing first in the Technical Graduate Course was awarded to Anshumaan Bisht.

Ali Shareef from Maldives bagged the Silver Medal for the best all round performance among all FGCs in the passing out course.
