3.5 magnitude quake felt in Assam

Met office said the epicentre was in Sonitpur district of the State at a depth of 5 km.

An earthquake of slight intensity measuring 3.5 on the Richter Scale shook Assam in the early hours of Wednesday.

Met office said the epicentre was in Sonitpur district on latitude 26.8 degree north and 92.5 degree east at a depth of 5 km.

It was experienced shortly after midnight at 12.48 a.m. IST.

No loss of life or property was immediately reported, a police official said.

On April 25, 2015, two mild tremors had been felt at Guwahati and its neighbouring areas in Assam following the devastating tremor in Nepal.
