3 teachers suspended

Three teachers of an upper primary school at Dholapita under Bhanjanagar police station in Ganjam district of Odisha were suspended due to their alleged corporal punishment on a class VII student.

A group of villagers on Wednesday locked up the school to protest against the suspension order. They demanded suspension order to be revoked. The student, who had been allegedly injured due to corporal punishment of these teachers on January 19, had been admitted in Bhanjanagar sub-divisional hospital the next day. According to sources, he has been discharged from hospital and his condition is normal. The suspended teachers include the head master of the school and two others.
