3 FIRs against Yeddyurappa

June 20, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:31 am IST - Bengaluru:

Three First Information Reports were registered against former Karnataka Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa on Friday by the Lokayukta police in connection with the illegal land denotification case.

Earlier, a complaint had been filed with the Lokayukta by Right to Information activist Jayakumar Hiremath based on the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) report in 2012 titled “Denotification of land by government and allotment of sites by BDA”.

After he lodged the complaint, the case was referred to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for a preliminary inquiry. The CID, which submitted its report recently, pointed to instances of illegal denotifications between 2007 and 2012. These had taken place during the tenure of H D Kumaraswamy and Mr. Yeddyurappa as Chief Ministers. Sources said that the CAG report mentions around 40 instances of illegal denotifications and more cases would be registered when the relevant documents are submitted.
