With the controversy over Udta Punjab refusing to die down, Punjab Congress president Capt. Amarinder Singh has come out in support of the film, stating that he will release the “uncensored” CDs of the film in Amritsar’s Majitha town on June 17.

“The purpose of releasing the film in Majitha is to tell the ruling Akalis and the BJP that no matter what ... the truth will be exposed,” said Capt. Amarinder in a statement on Thursday.

Capt. Amarinder has written to the producers of the film, Anurag Kashyap and Ekta Kapoor, asking them to provide the uncensored CDs of the film.

“I will take the entire responsibility of the legal implications, if any, for releasing the uncensored CDs,” he said.
