Further escalating the tension between the ruling alliance and the opposition over >suspension of Congress MPs from Lok Sabha, 30 BJP MPs on Thursday wrote to Rajya Sabha Chairman to initiate similar action in the House.
"You will appreciate that continous disruption of the House by Congress MPs is mot allowing us to duscharge our duty as members of the House and we seek action against them undet rules, " the MPs said in a signed letter to Chairman Hamid Ansari.
Earlier, even as the Congress continued to agitatate inside Parliament and outside, the government held that only the Lok Sabha Speaket can revoke her order of suspension against the lok sabha members.
Friday will be the last day of the five-day suspension of 30 Congress MPs for continuously disrupting the house over their demand for resignation of BJP leaders charged with impropriety and misdemeanour.
" If the suspended members meet the Speaker and apologise, she may consider revoking the order. But there has to be some sign of regret, " said a senior BJP leader.
"This is their arrogance," retorted a Janata Dal (United) leader.
