The Uttar Pradesh police are alleged to have booked two minors among the seven Muslims charged with cow slaughter from Naya Bans village in Bulandshahr.
In a video clip from Bulandshahr, Yasin Khan of Naya Bans said police had come to his house in search of his son and nephew, who have been named as accused.
“I was taken to the thana (police station); they kept me there for four hours, and made me write their names [of the boys] and took my phone number,” he said.
Mohammad Hussain, another resident of Naya Bans, corroborated the allegation saying the police had come to Mr. Khan’s house.
Mr. Hussain, who runs a garment shop, further said his younger brother Sharfudin had been falsely accused in the case. Mr. Hussain said his brother was attending the Ijtema, a Muslim congregation being held in Bulandshahr, over the weekend.
SSP, Bulandshahr, Krishna B. Singh refused to respond to the allegation and said: “We are verifying the facts.”
