The censor board was hit by a fresh controversy on Thursday after members objected to the style of functioning of its chairperson, Pahlaj Nihalani.

While national award-winning film-maker Chandra Prakash Dwivedi expressed discomfort over collective decisions being ignored, another member, Ashoke Pandit accused Mr. Nihalani, of running the board like his fiefdom.

Mr. Dwivedi objected to the chopping off of certain explicit words from the Anushka Sharma-starrer NH10 .

Mr. Pandit said Mr. Nihalani had made the Central Board of Film Certification “a laughing stock not only amongst the film makers but also the cinema-viewing audience.”

When contacted by The Hindu , Mr. Nihalani refused to comment.
