The Indian youth are yet to properly understand Mahatma Gandhi and his philosophy of life even though it has received worldwide acceptance, noted Gandhian and Gandhi Peace Mission chairman N. Radhakrishnan has said.

Dr. Radhakrishnan was inaugurating the Gandhi Yatra, covering various places in the district visited by Gandhi during his Kerala visit, at Vadakkadathukavu, near Adoor, on Sunday.

He said the success of Gandhi was his faith, action and populism, which were the three most important aspects of his life.

Presiding over the function, Pazhakulam Madhu, Kerala State Tourfed chairman, said Gandhi was rightly called the Father of the Nation because he single-handedly stood up against the mighty British empire, without any arms, and won Independence for the country.

The Gandhi Yatra began from Thiruvananthapuram on October 2.

Senior citizens from the district who had met Gandhi during his Kerala visit were honoured on the occasion.
