An official conference convened by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Tuesday to review preparations for the coming Sabarimala season decided to take urgent measures for waste management at the temple premises and transit camps.

Funds for this would be sanctioned immediately.

The Chief Minister suggested that long term projects needed to be taken up for waste management and improvement of facilities for pilgrims, and services of experts from outside the State would be sought if necessary.

The meeting resolved that work on improvement of camps at Kanamala, Erumeli, Pandalam and Chengannur would start in January.

Revenue Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, Minister for Transport and Devaswoms V. S. Sivakumar, Minister for Water Resources P. J. Jospeh, Government Chief Whip P. C. George, Additional Chief Secretary K. Jayakumar and Devaswom Board president M. Rajagopalan Nair attended the meeting.
