The functioning of the Thrissur Medical College has reportedly been affected after the Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent, Resident Medical Officer of Thrissur Government Medical College (GMC) resigned from their posts.

Though they submitted their resignation two days ago, the Principal has not accepted it yet, sources said.

The resignation was in protest against alleged non-cooperation of ruling service organizations for development activities of the hospital.

The Superintendent, Deputy Superintendent and the Principal allegedly found some irregularities in the procurement of equipment for new trauma care centre.

It is reported that the leaders of the ruling service organisations have threatened the Superintendent, when he asked for the file in connection with procurement of the equipment. No proper documents on welfare funds have been submitted to the Superintendent, it is alleged.
