Technical sessions of cashew conclave begin

The technical sessions of cashew conclave got under way in Kochi on Wednesday. The programmes comprised presentations and discussions on various aspects of Indian cashew industry.

The themes discussed on Wednesday included Indian kernel market, exports and marketing of cashew, a status report on the Indian raw cashew scene and problems and prospects of raw cashew trade.

The conclave, Kaju India 2015, coincides with the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Cashew Export Promotion Council of India. The cashew conclave has also a buyer-seller meet section as well as an exhibition for cashew industry. Nila Cashew is one of the stalls at the exhibition where various products from the company are on show.

CEPCI is the apex body for the Indian cashew industry comprising traders, processors and exporters. The cashew conclave is being attended by around 500 delegates from India and about 50 delegates from outside the country. A communication from CEPCI said the occasion was a platform that had brought the entire spectrum of the cashew industry such as raw cashew importers, processors, sellers and providers of supporting services.
