The tantris of Thazhamon Madhom, the hereditary high priests at Sabarimala, have taken strong exception towards the statements made by right wing activist Rahul Easwar in the guise of the tantri family spokesman.

In a statement issued here on Sunday, the Thazhamon Madhom says that Mr. Easwar has nothing to do with the ritualistic practices and usages at Sabarimala or with the tantric rights of the Thazhamon family.

“Mr. Easwar does not even have any succession right and the Thazhamon Madhom strongly disagrees with his misleading deeds and statements concerning the tantri family and ritualistic matters at Sabarimala,” says the statement.

Mr. Easwar should not be treated as a spokesman or representative of the tantri family or his statements as that that of the Thazhamon Madhom, the statement says. The statement says that the Thazhamon Madhom and the tantris will never sidestep from the responsibility to protect the faith, ritualistic practices and custom at Sabarimala.

“We stand for the glory of Sabarimala Sannidhanam. It should be retained as an abode of devotion. Nothing untoward should happen at Sabarimala and the Travancore Devaswom Board, government and each devotee are bound to protect the sanctity and dignity of Sabarimala,” the statement says.

Good relations

According to the statement, the Thazhamon Madhom and the TDB are in good terms and will continue to be so. “The statement made by the Chief Minister on the tantri family has pained us. We believe that some misunderstanding might have prompted the Chief Minister to make such an agonising statement,” the statement says.
