: Thaitheeriyam-2015, a five-day cultural programme involving artistes from across the nation, concluded here on Saturday.
The event was hosted to mark the silver jubilee of the Thrikaripur-based Folkland, an institution dedicated to the promotion of folk culture and traditions. Artistes from Manipur, Mizoram, Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya, Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh showcased their cultural programmes at Kanhangad, Cheemeni, Parappa and Neeleswaram. Craftsmen from Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Karnataka, Telangana, all the north-eastern States besides Kerala took part in the handicrafts exhibition held at the UBMC school here. A seminar on the unique traditions of South India was held on the Neeleswaram campus of Kannur University. The programme was coordinated by organising committee chairman M.C. Jose and Folkland chairman V. Jayaraj.
