The e-auction of the Marayur sandalwood will be held on May 20 and 21. Marayur Divisional Forest Officer Saby Varghese on Thursday said as many as 59.25 tonnes of sandalwood would be placed for auction.
He said the auctions would be held in four sections and there were 14.10 tonnes of Class 6 item, which was considered the most favourite among the pharmaceutical companies.
He said there were 6.4 tonnes of sandalwood exclusively meant for temples.
Good response
There was good response from companies in Mumbai and Delhi. However, temples in the State had not shown any interest in the auction, he added. Only three or four temples participated regularly in the auction.
