The doors of the shrine of Lord Ayyappa in Sabarimala, Kerala, opened on the evening of October 17, 2018 for the first time after the Supreme Court verdict allowed women of all ages to worship in the temple.
Nilackal, the entry point of the temple, turned into a venue of protests by various groups that opposed the entry of younger women to the shrine.
