The district committee of the Left Democratic Front (LDF) held a demonstration here on Wednesday protesting against the hike in petroleum prices.The demonstration that commenced from the CPI(M) district committee office culminated with a dharna held in front of the BSNL office here. However, the Communist Party of India (CPI) did not participate in the demonstration. The party leadership felt it inappropriate to hold a protest meet while a new government was being sworn in to power.
