POCSO case accused apprehended while travelling on train

An accused in a Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) case, Abdullah, 55, was apprehended by the police following a tip-off while he was travelling on a train, on Tuesday.

The Mangaluru railway police had received information that the suspect had boarded the Netravati Express (Train No. 16345) from Mumbai. However, he managed to evade capture. Subsequently, the information was passed on to the Kasaragod railway police.

Abdullah was arrested by a team comprising railway police sub inspector Rajikumar, assistant sub inspector Prakashan, and civil police officer Hidayatullah. He was later handed over to the Bekal police.

The Bekal police confirmed that a lookout circular had been issued against him. He will be produced in court.
