P.C. Thomas, the beleaguered leader of the Kerala Congress faction owing allegiance to the Left Democratic Front (LDF), appears to be taking a right turn by formalising his disengagement from the coalition on Thursday.

According to Mr. Thomas, the State committee meeting of the party scheduled here for Thursday would take a final decision regarding coalition relations and also discuss in detail the party’s stance on the idea of Agriculture Budget propounded by him.

Meanwhile, Mr. Thomas, who had earlier dilly dallied with the idea of contesting the Aruvikkara by-elections, has decided against going it alone. Instead, his party is expected to support any political party or formation which would endorse his proposal regarding the Agriculture Budget in Aruvikkara, Mr. Thomas said. The BJP leaders have expressed their appreciation for the idea, he said.
