The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday received four days custody of Mohammed Azarudeen and Sheik Hidayathullah, accused of being members of an Islamic State (IS) module based in Coimbatore and having alleged links with those involved in the Sri Lanka Easter blast case.
The custody of the duo was secured after the agency filed a petition before the NIA court here. Earlier, it had approached the court seeking the custody of the accused for a week.
The agency had examined the mobile phones and electronic devices seized in a raid held at the residences and offices of the two with the help of experts at the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.
The findings allegedly led to certain key information on the links they had with those behind the Easter blast. Both were taken into custody again to verify the findings. The NIA had carried out raids at multiple locations in Coimbatore and nearby areas in June to track the IS-backed module that had alleged contacts with the people involved in the Easter blasts.
