Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam general secretary Vellappally Natesan has described the beginning of the United Democratic Front (UDF) rule as disappointing.

Addressing a felicitation meeting organised by the SNDP Union here on Saturday, he said Chief Minister Oommen Chandy who had allotted the key portfolios among various front partners was in a helpless situation. Mr. Natesan likened Mr. Chandy's predicament to that of epic hero Karna of Mahabharatha who had donated his armour and earring to Kunti.

“Various front partners have grabbed the key portfolios and the Chief Minister was left with a gun sans bullets.

Ironically, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) leaders were criticising the SNDP Yogam for the front's defeat in the elections, he said. Mr. Natesan said the SNDP Yogam had not taken sides with any political party or coalition in the just concluded Assembly polls. Instead, it had given the freedom to its members to vote for the candidate of their choice, he added.
