A 15-year old girl was fatally injured when a tree fell on her while she was pillion riding on a motorcycle at Kambil under the Mayyil police station limits here on Monday afternoon.
The deceased has been identified as B. Nahada (15), daughter of Thaha, Suhara Manzil at Pattayam near Kambil. Her cousin, identified as Afsal, who was riding the two-wheeler, escaped unhurt, the police said.
Having suffered critical injury, the girl succumbed to her injuries at a private hospital here.
On her way to school
She was on her way to a local higher secondary school with her cousin in connection with her application for joining the Plus Two course, the police said. The incident occurred near Narath Public Health Centre on the Mayyil-Kannur road.
A tree inside the compound of a house located near the road got uprooted and fell over the compound wall near the road.
Nahada was knocked off the two-wheeler when a branch of the tree hit her on the pillion seat, the police said.
She suffered critical injury in the back side of the head when she fell on the road, the police added. The body is being kept at the mortuary of the hospital.
