: The District Development Committee chaired by the District Collector S. Harikishore has called upon the government to immediately release the fund required for completing the repair work on various Sabarimala roads in a time-bound manner.
Presenting a resolution highlighting the poor condition of Sabarimala roads, Ranni MLA Raju Abraham said the government had decided to sanction Rs. 170 crore for modernisation of the Sabarimala roads.
Fund released
But, the government has released only Rs.15 crore, so far, he said.
The MLA has called for immediate release of the remaining Rs. 155 crore to carry out the work before the pilgrim season begins.
Chittayam Gopakumar, MLA, has demanded immediate measures to address the drinking water problem in different parts of the Adoor Assembly segment.
He said a new scheme for supplying water from river Kallada should be explored to address the drinking water problem, which was getting worse day by day in Adoor.
Police aid-post
Addressing the meeting, the District Panchayat member Robin Peter said urgent steps should be taken to set up a police aid-post at Kokkathode on the forest fringes of Konni taluk.
Mr. Peter further called upon the committee to take necessary steps to resume the work on the taluk hospital complex in Konni that was disrupted a few days ago.
Financial aid
The District Co-operative Bank president, Thoppil Gopakumar, said financial assistance should be released from the MP’s local area development fund for setting up automatic milk collection units attached to the milk marketing societies in the district. Mathew T. Thomas, MLA, said alternate arrangements should be ensured when doctors at various government healthcare centres are shifted from one place to another on working arrangement. A. Gopakumar, Thiruvalla Revenue Divisional Officer, and P.J. Amina, District Planning Officer, also attended the meeting.
