The Election Commission has released the final list of 56 candidates for the 16 divisions of the Wayanad district panchayat on Saturday evening. According to the list as many as 28 of the candidates are women.
There are 327 candidates contesting for three municipalities in the district, including 85 candidates in Kalpetta municipality, 131 in Mananthavadi and 111 candidates in Sulthan Bathery municipality.
The total number of candidates left in the electoral contest in four block panchayats are 173, including 89 men and 84 women.
The number of candidates remaining in 23 grama panchayats in the district are 1,326, including 676 women and 650 men.
