The renovated Nehru Park here witnessed a heavy rush of children on Sunday. The huge elephant made of ‘steel’ is the main attraction at the park now. Many were seen taking selfie with the elephant that sprays water through its trunk. The steel elephant with a height of 16 ft has been made at a cost of Rs. 7.5 lakh. Artist C.G. Prince created it.

New benches and chairs have also been installed at the park.

The city corporation recently renovated the park and installed 50-odd play equipment at the park. They include crystal maze, spiral slide, circular swing, roller slide and trampoline. An amount of Rs.5 crore has been earmarked for the renovation work, according to Mayor Rajan Pallan.

A toy train and a music fountain will be the highlights in the second phase, Mr. Pallan said. The work would be completed in six months, he added.
