A single judge of the Kerala High Court on Monday recused himself from hearing the anticipatory bail plea filed by a Kochi-based lawyer C.P. Udayabhanu.

The advocate filed the anticipatory bail petition in a case relating to the murder of a real estate broker in Chalakudy.

The judge passed the order as the counsel for Akhil, son of the murdered broker Rajiv, had expressed certain apprehensions.

‘Interrogation needed’

When the petition came up, Suman Chakravarthy, Senior Government Pleader, submitted that the custodial interrogation of the petitioner was essential in the case.

The Senior Government Pleader further submitted that the name of the petitioner was in the First Information Report.

The broker was found murdered in a deserted building at Chalakudy in Thrissur last month.
