A 15-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted from Oachira and Mohammed Roshan (19), the first accused in the case concerned, were found at Panavel in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The Kerala Police have secured a transit warrant and are expected to return by Tuesday night.

The girl and Roshan were found residing in a rented room at a slum near Panavel and they were taken to the local police station and later produced before court.

The police found the duo trailing a telephone call made to one of Roshan's friends in Memana. They first fled to Bengaluru by train and from there to Rajasthan and later to Mumbai.

Meanwhile, Roshan claimed that he and the girl were in a relationship for the last two years and it was not a case of abduction. And according to his statement, the girl is 18 and hence not a minor. He said they had decided to elope as both the families were against their relationship.

‘‘We need to investigate further since there is confusion regarding her age. A medical examination will be conducted after bringing the girl back,’’ an officer said.

The girl belongs to a nomadic family from Rajasthan, currently settled in Oachira. Her father said he was happy to get his daughter back and they would leave Kerala as soon the legal formalities are over. The police had earlier arrested three accomplices, Ananthu, Bipin and Pyari, in connection with the case.
