Sibaq arts festival draws crowds

Sibaq 2016, the national inter-collegiate Islamic arts festival organised by the Darul Huda Islamic University, Chemmad, began on Friday evening.

Darul Huda Chancellor Sayed Hyderali Shihab Thangal inaugurated the festival. Vice Chancellor Bahauddin Nadvi presided. Minister for Industries P.K. Kunhalikutty delivered the keynote address. Calicut University Vice Chancellor K. Mohammed Basheer and Jamia Millia University Vice Chancellor Talat Ahmad spoke. A procession by the participants from different States preceded the inaugural function.

Organisers said students from over a dozen States were attending the four-day final edition of the Islamic arts festival. Zonal and regional editions of the festival were conducted in the past three weeks. Indian Union Muslim League district president Sayed Sadikali Shihab Thangal will inaugurate the valedictory function to be held on Monday evening.
