The State Bank of Travancore, launched a new product by name “Vishwa Yatra Foreign Travel Card” to help Indian citizens who plan to travel abroad to all places except Nepal and Bhutan. A.K. Jagannathan, Managing Director of the Bank formally launched the product by handing over the first Viswa yatra Card to Mervin Alexander, CEO, Technopark, Thiruvananthapuram.
Vishwa Yatra Foreign Travel Card (VYFTC) is a pre-paid card in association with VISA. The card comes in handy for corporates who plan to their employees abroad for official purposes. It is also useful for parents or sponsors of students going abroad for higher studies, subject to completion of customer identification norms and statutory ceilings prescribed form time to time. The card is issued with a minimum amount of US$ 500/ € 400 or GBP 250 and a maximum of US$ 10,000.
Applied with competitive exchange rates and value added features of SMS alert for each transaction, the card can be reloaded any number of times. It is safer than cash and easier than cheques as it enables to draw money through ATMs and to effect payment at merchant establishments anywhere in the world, operated on 4 digits PIN. Free balance enquiry and details of transactions are enabled with this facility. The pre-paid VYFT cards are available at all Foreign Exchange authorised branches of SBT.
