AIR to celebrate 60th anniversary from Friday

The 60th anniversary celebrations of the All India Radio (AIR) will begin here on April 23 and continue with a ‘Farm Fest’ till April 25.

Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, AIR Alappuzha Station director K.M. Muralidharan said Governor R.S. Gavai would inaugurate the celebrations at the DBHS Grounds in Cheriyanadu near Chengannur at 5 p.m. on Friday. Chengannur MLA P.C. Vishnunath would preside over the function, which would also have Union Minister of State for Agriculture K.V. Thomas launching the ‘Farm Fest’. G. Jayalal, Deputy Director General, AIR, Thiruvananthapuram, would deliver the keynote address.

On Saturday, Leader of Opposition Oommen Chandy would inaugurate ‘Anyonyam’, an agriculture seminar, which would have NABARD chief general manager K.C. Shashidhar delivering the keynote address. On Sunday, a festival themed on the Onattukara region, ‘Paithrukam’, would be held and be followed by an interaction with State award-winning farmers.

The valedictory function would be at 5 p.m. on Sunday and would be inaugurated by Agriculture Minister Mullakara Ratnakaran. Local Administration Minister Paloli Mohammedkutty would launch a website of Cheriyanadu panchayat on the occasion.
