CPI(M) State secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan will hand over house keys to Kuniyil Palath Sreelakshmi at Kannur Town on April 4 to mark the completion of construction of 23 houses built under the ‘Snehaveedu’ initiative of the party. These houses have been built to coincide with the upcoming 23rd Party Congress of the CPI(M) in Kannur from April 6 to 10.

M.V. Jayarajan, party district secretary, said in a release on Thursday that the beneficiaries of the initiative were from poor families. So far, a total of 212 houses had been built under the initiative. Sixty-seven of the beneficiaries were widows, 33 were autism patients or differently abled, and 23 were diagnosed with serious illnesses. The help of various organisations aligned with the CPI(M) and kind-hearted individuals and outfits was sought to collect land, funds and other materials. Twenty-three more houses would be built after the culmination of the Party Congress, he said.
