184 write Class VII equivalency exam

As many as184 persons have written the tenth batch of the Class VII equivalency exam being jointly conducted by the State Literacy Mission and the Public Education Department. There were 13 exam centres in the district.

The seniormost candidate was A. Anna, 64, who wrote the exams at the Purapuzha centre in Thodupuzha block and the youngest was B. Sudheesh, 15, who appeared for the exams at the Vandiperiyar centre in the Peermade block. Of the 184 candidates, 79 were female. There were 28 Scheduled Caste and 15 Scheduled Tribe candidates.

Those who could not complete school exams owing to various reasons and are above 15 years of age can write the exams. The study materials and the enrolment are given through the Literacy Mission’s Vidya Kendras attached to the local bodies for the six-month course.
