The Congress is likely to name Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas M. Veerappa Moily in the second list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections to be released in the next few days.

In the first list released on Saturday, the Congress announced the names of 14 candidates, including all incumbent Lok Sabha members from the State except Mr. Moily.

Sources in the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee told The Hindu on Sunday that the party would re-nominate Mr. Moily for the Chickballapur constituency in the second list.

The BJP has fielded the former Labour Minister B.N. Bache Gowda from the constituency.

The Janata Dal (Secular) is likely to field Anitha Kumaraswamy, wife of the former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.
