A two-day national conference on Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming began in Mysuru on Monday.

A two-day national conference on Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming began in Mysuru on Monday.

A two day national conference on the “Impact of Information Technology, Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming” organised by Mysore University’s Centre for Information Science and Technology (CIST) began here on Monday.

Hundreds of students, researchers and teachers from different parts of the country are participating in the conference, which was inaugurated by former Minister B.K. Chandrashekar in the presence of Prof. K.S. Rangappa, Vice-Chancellor of University of Mysore.

The growth of Animation, Visual Effects and Gaming industry holds a lot of promise and the purpose of the conference is to create awareness among the youth about the latest technological developments and the new job opportunities in the field, said Dr. Amruthavalli, Associate Professor at CIST, who is also the organising secretary of the conference.

A total of ten resource persons representing animation companies, training organisations and academia will be making presentations over the next two days.

As part of the conference, prizes will be given away to winning entries of short films in animation, visual effects and gaming that had been submitted for a competition.
