The much-awaited public bicycle sharing (PBS) project was launched in Mysuru on Sunday. Christened ‘Trin Trin’, the project allows the general public to borrow bicycles from any of 48 docking stations set up across the city and return them to a docking station nearest to their destination.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, who himself pedalled around Sri Jayachamarajendra Wadiyar Circle, during the launch on Sunday, also released a short video on various aspects of Trin Trin and launched a mobile app.
A number of cities, including Bengaluru, were planning to adopt the system.
The project is likely to take off in Bengaluru as well this year, he said.
However, Mysuru, with a population of 12 lakh people, was the first city in India to have a public bicycle sharing system.
