‘Tourist places to be developed at a cost of Rs. 4 crore’

Minister of State for IT and BT and district in-charge Priyank Kharge has said that tourist places and historical monuments in the district will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs. 4 crore.

Officials of the department concerned have been instructed to prepare a detailed action plan immediately.

He was talking to press personnel at the historical fort in Yadgir after inspecting the present status of the fort.

He said that the ‘Sleeping Buddha’ and the Maavina Kere (Lake) at Shahapur town; the bird sanctuary at Bonhal village in Surpur taluk; the Dhab Dhabe waterfalls in Yadgir taluk will developed as tourist attractions.

Mr. Priyank, who was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Khushboo Goel Chowdhary and officials of Tourism, Revenue, City Municipal Council and Public Work Departments, inspected the fort and advised the officials to take all steps to preserve the monuments and inscriptions.

He said that out of Rs. 2 crore, which was released last year, Rs. 1 crore was spent so far to take up development work at the fort.

The Minister also said that Rs. 50 crore was earmarked to develop the historical and tourism places in Hyderabad-Karnataka and Rs. 25 crore had already been released.

The Hyderabad Karnataka Tourism Advisory Committee, which was formed recently, will be supervising the works, Mr. Priyank said.
