The South Western Railway has decided to increase the number of coaches in Mysuru-Talaguppa-Mysuru train.

At a meeting with the officials of South Western Railway here on Sunday, B.Y. Raghavendra, Shivamogga MP, requested for enhancement of the number of coaches. At present, the Mysuru-Talaguppa-Mysuru train (16227/28) is running with 11 sleeper coaches. Acting on the request, it has been decided to attach two additional sleeper coaches to the train from August 26.

It may be mentioned here that a sanction has been given for the establishment of a new coaching terminal near Kotegangur. Mr. Raghavendra; S. Rudre Gowda, MLC; Rajesh Agarwal, member, Rolling Stock of Railway Board; Ajay Kumar Singh, GM, South Western Railway; and Aparna Garg, Divisional Manager; visited Kotegangur and inspected the spot where the proposed infrastructure would come up. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Raghavendra said that in the wake of the sanctioning of survey work on the proposed Shivamogga-Harihar and Shivamogga-Shikaripur-Ranebennur Railway lines, works related to upgradation of railway infrastructure in the region should be taken up to facilitate plying of additional trains in future.

The officials informed him that in view of the limited land available with the Railways in Kotegangur for the establishment of a full-fledged coaching terminal, an alternative site was being considered in Talaguppa for the project.
