The general manager of South Western Railway (SWR) on Sunday suspended a senior engineer with the construction wing of the zone for alleged d ereliction of duty.
According to sources in the SWR, a deputy chief engineer of the construction wing, who was in charge of line doubling between Hubballi and Davangere, was suspended on the spot by A.K. Singh, the GM, allegedly for a fault on the newly built line. The incident took place when the GM was on his way to attend an official programme at Davangere. Mr. Singh, while confirming the action, declined to elaborate, saying it was an internal matter.
Meanwhile, there were reports of the Mysuru Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) proposing action against a very senior officer of the division over an issue during the Davangere programme. However, DRM Aparna Garg denied proposing such action.
