The Shivamogga Urban Development Authority (SUDA) will soon submit a proposal to the State government to rename the body as the Shivamogga-Bhadravati Urban Development Authority, said its chairman N. Ramesh.
Under its purview
At an interaction programme held in Bhadravati city on Sunday, a few residents said that as both Shivamogga and Bhadravati cities came under the purview of SUDA, the authority should be re-named including Bhadravati in it.
Replying to this, Mr. Ramesh said that the issue would be discussed in the next meeting of SUDA and a proposal would be submitted to the State government in this regard.
Public convenience
Until now, residents of Bhadravati had to visit the SUDA office in Shivamogga city to avail approvals for construction of residential and commercial buildings. For the convenience of the public, the Commissioner and designated staff of SUDA will be available at the City Municipal Council in Bhadravati city every Wednesday. The SUDA is contemplating opening a permanent office in Bhadravati city in the coming days, he said.
Drinking water units
The SUDA will install purified drinking water units on the premises of the bus stand of the Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation and on the premises of the government hospital in Bhadravati city. Replying to a query he said that, suitable place would be identified in the outskirts of the city for a truck terminal.
The programme was organised by the Bhadravati Taluk Journalists’ Association.
Residents of Bhadravati have requested the authority to include the city in its name
