 Pt. Indudhar Nirodi has been chosen for the ‘Guruvarya Sawai Gandharva Rashtriya Sangeet Puraskar’.

A two-day whole night music festival featuring prominent musicians from across the country will mark the 63rd death anniversary of legendary Hindustani vocalist Pandit Sawai Gandharva at Kundagol in Dharwad district.

Pandit Indudhar Nirodi, exponent of Agra Gharana from Mysuru, will be honoured with ‘Guruvarya Sawai Gandharva Rashtriya Sangeet Puraskar’. Pt. G.G. Joshi from Mumbai and Vidushi Ashwini Valsangkar from Solapur will be felicitated.

Addressing presspersons here on Saturday, chairman of the Sawai Gandharva Smaraka Vishwastha Samsthe, Kundagol, Aravind Katagi, and secretary Ashok Nadgir said that musicians from across the country would pay musical tribute to the legendary musician and the concerts would be held at the Sangeet Samrat Sawai Gandharva Smaraka Bhavan at Kundagol on October 6 and 7.C.S. Shivalli, Kundagol MLA, would inaugurate the festival. Shitikantheshwar Shivacharya Swami of Panchagruha Hiremutt and would be present. Pt. Indudhar Nirodi would hold a concert, Mr. Katagi said.
