Qamarul flays Baig’s remark

January 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 06:05 am IST - KALABURAGI:

Minister for Municipal Administration and Minority Affairs Qamarul Islam has taken serious exception to the statement of Information Minister R. Roshan Baig that Kannada should be the medium of instruction in Urdu schools in the State. He said it was against the policy of the government and also goes against the spirit of the Supreme Court judgment on the issue.

Addressing a press conference in Kalaburagi city on Tuesday, Mr. Islam said the entire Muslim community was perturbed over Mr. Baig’s statement, which was uncalled for and went against the State government’s educational policy. Mr. Qamarul said he had already spoken to Minister for Primary and Secondary Education Kimmane Ratnakar on the issue, and he had clarified that there was no change in the policy of the government.
