The vigilance squad of the Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Company (CESC), Mysuru, has sought support from the public in curbing electricity thefts.

The public can tip-off the squad if they come across thefts in their surroundings and their names would be kept confidential. The informants will not be treated as witnesses in the cases, according to a release.

Vigilance squad Superintendent of Police Shankare Gowda said the informants would be suitably rewarded based on the extent of thefts by erring consumers.

“Of late, the public are coming forward to report the thefts. This will help us in detecting thefts and bringing revenue to the company,” the SP told The Hindu .
