Yadgir Zilla Panchayat president Rajshekhargowda Patil Vajjal has directed the district officials strictly to follow up an any project from its beginning to its completion to ensure proper implementation and quality in work.
Chairing the monthly Karnataka Development Programme meeting to review progress or work in Yadgir on Monday, Mr. Vajjal pointed out that many projects were still not completed even after years of their commencement and officials are not aware of the actual facts related to them.
“Completion of projects will get delayed due to lack of coordination between departments and lack of supervision by officers of the departments concerned. To avoid such delays, district-level officials should visit the project site and inspect work with guidelines issued to ensure the quality and their completion within time,” he said. Focussing on drinking water crisis, Mr. Vajjal said that 246 villages across the district would face drinking water problem in the coming days. There is no dearth of funds to tackle the crisis.
Therefore, officials should take steps to mitigate the drinking water crisis. They can even take up new projects, immediately after receiving complaints. But, they have to intimate their higher officials and also elected representatives, whose coordination will play a crucial role in solving the issue, he said.
Responding to him, officials said that water is being supplied to 11 villages in Surpur taluk and four in Shahpur taluk through tankers.
Girja Sadashivappagowda Rotnadagi, vice-president, Kavita Mannikeri, Chief Executive Officer, district-level officials and others were present.
