Minister for Horticulture and District In-charge Shamnur Shivshankarappa has informed that top priority has been given for the overall development of the district by bringing more funds under different schemes of the government.

Road work

Speaking to reporters here on Sunday, he stated that the road work on the old Pune-Bangalore highway near Renuka temple would be completed in a fortnight and tenders for the Birur-Sammasagi road has already been invited. The work on the project would commence once the tender process is completed.

Earlier, the Union government used to release funds under the National Horticulture Mission regularly, but from the last one year the Union government is releasing funds under the mission only once in six months, making it difficult to complete the allotted works, he alleged.

The Minister informed that the government has released Rs. 206 crore for installing scientific weighing machines and work would be inaugurated shortly.
