April 04, 2018 07:12 pm | Updated 07:12 pm IST - KALABURAGI

In view of imminent Assembly elections the State and the enforcement of model code of conduct, Kalaburagi police conducted a rowdy-sheeters’ parade at the District Armed Reserve police grounds here on Wednesday. Superintendent of Police N. Shashikumar warned the habitual offenders of stringent action against those who involve in election malpractices and disturb law and order.

Taking exceptions to the unusual attire of the history-sheeters, Mr. Shashikumar not only advised them to be decent in dressing and hair-styles, he also got long hairs of about 30 rowdies cut and their heavy wrist and neck chains removed on the spot, stating that the public would be terrified by such appearances.

His warnings and lecture went off for almost an hour under the hot sun. Around 500 rowdy-sheeters from the city and rural areas were present.

Mr. Shashikumar told presspersons later that the district had about 3,800 rowdy-sheeters, relatively higher in number as compared to other districts.

Additional Superintendent of Police B. Jayaprakash and other senior officers were present.
