The National Highway Division of the Public Works Department (PWD), which has already begun removing speed-breakers on the Bengaluru-Mysuru highway and replacing them with collapsible barricades, is considering a proposal by the Police Department to barricade the medians to prevent hazardous pedestrian crossing.

A PWD official said the authorities are considering a series of proposals made by Superintendent of Mandya district police, Bhushan G. Borase, that include installation of barricades on the median and removal of plants on the median near the junctions.

In a letter to Chief Engineer, National Highway Zone, Bengaluru, Mr. Borase said if barricades are erected on the median, it will prevent pedestrian accidents.
