Outfits seek action against killing of Dalit youth

Functionaries of Praja Vimochana Chalavali (PVC) staged a protest near B.R. Ambedkar statue at Bangarpet on Wednesday demanding stringent action against those who killed a Dalit youth for adding an Ambedkar song as his ring tone.

The incident took place near Shirdi in Maharashtra recently sending shock waves across the country.

“The authorities should trace the accused in the inhuman incident. The perpetrators of this heinous crime should be hanged to death”, urged protesters.

PVC Bangarpet taluk President P. Madivannan led the protest.

Condemned

Most of the Dalit and progressive outfits including Dalit Sangharsha Samiti in the district have condemned the barbaric act of killing the Dalit youth for having the Ambedkar ringtone.

In a press release, the leaders of the organisations deplored that such inhuman acts are a shame to humanity. They urged the authorities to punish the accused so as to set an example would serve as lesson in the future, they said.
